Mingoo Kim is Korea’s up and coming national prodigy. At 23 years old, he is classed as the little brother of Korean basketball who will grow into a sure superstar.
But at around 3 a.m. on June 7th 2014, Kim Mingoo crashed his car into a traffic pole in Seoul’s Gangnam district. No other vehicles or people were involved. It was later stated by Seoul Metro Police that Kim Mingoo’s blood alcohol level was at 0.06%. According to sources out of Seoul, Kim Mingoo suffered a serious hip injury and is ruled out of Korea’s national team roster for this year’s FIBA world cup in Spain.
Kim Mingoo had is coming out party last summer putting on an exceptional performance at the 2013 FIBA Asia tournament in Philippines.
He is ranked as one of the top guards in a guard heavy country. Road to recovery will not be an easy one for the 23 year old. Not only will he have to regain the strength to get back on the court, but also regain the trust and respect from his country.
The Korean Basketball League has yet to comment on the situation. There is no word yet on if Mingoo Kim will be suspended for the 2014-2015 KBL season.
