Yongin Dongbu Police are investigating former LG Sakers guard Byun Hyun Soo as he is accused of using his job as an office worker at city hall (serving his military service) to steal money from a 72-year-old man.

Byun Hyun Soo, who earned $100,000.00 (USD) last season playing for the LG Sakers, was stationed as a government worker for Yongin City Hall where he contacted a 72-year-old Korean citizen and demanded him his bank information. He promised the senior citizen that the city is building him a new house and that he needs to access his bank account for future actions to take place. According to a police statement, Byun Hyun Soo proceeded to an ATM where he withdrew all of the senior citizen’s money, $7,000.00 USD, and spent it on personal expenses.

Byun Hyun Soo is expected to appear in court in June. His military service goes from June 20th, 2013 to June 19th, 2015. The Korean Basketball League and the SK Knights (his current team) have yet to release a statement.
