The second overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft is officially playing in the Chinese Basketball Association.
After uncertainties of making the Memphis Grizzlies opening day roster, Michael Beaseley and the Shanghai Sharks have come to an agreement that will see Beasley play the 2014-2015 season in China. Shanghai Sharks owner, Yao Ming, is familiar with Beasley. In 2010, when Beasley was playing for the Timberwolves and Yao Ming playing for the Rockets, Beasley blocked the 7’6 Yao Ming but was called for the foul. It seemed like the block was all-ball, nevertheless the referee called a foul. Beasley better get used to those type of calls playing in China.
Beasley will join former NBA guard Delonte West as the second foreign player for Shanghai. West and Beasley seem like a perfect match for each other. These are two players who love to put on a show for the fans.
West loves his cross-over, through the legs, step-back jumpers and Beasley loves grabbing the defensive rebounds and taking it the length of the floor for his own dunk. Both of these styles are more than welcomed in the CBA, not so much in the NBA.
