Miami Heat guard Toney Douglas will play this season in China

Reading Time: 1 minutes

Two months ago, Toney Douglas was playing for an NBA title with the Miami Heat. Two months from now, Toney Douglas will be playing in China with the Jiangsu Dragons in Nanjing, China.

The deal is reportedly worth $1 million with no victory bonuses.

Douglas was drafted to the NBA in 2009. He’s a scoring point guard who played on five teams throughout his five seasons in the NBA (New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat).

One can only wonder if Miami Heat teammate Chris “The Birdman” Andersen who once played for the Jiangsu Dragons put in a good word for the squad to ease Douglas’ decision.

The 6’2 point guard plays solid on both ends of the floor and should be a perfect fit for the Chinese Basketball Association who demands high scoring from their foreign guards.

There was a rumour this summer stating Douglas and the Chicago Bulls were in talks about signing a contract but that fell through once the Bulls made it official that they were signing Aaron Brooks.

Well China, Toney Douglas is coming to a restaurant near you to “Do what Toney Douglas Do”.
