The current World Boxing Organization (WBO) Wealterweight champion is also a professional basketball player, and coach.

That’s right, Manny Pacquiao played in Kia Sorentos season opening match in front of a record audience of 52,612 fans at Philippines Arena in Manila on Sunday. In August, Pacquiao was drafted by the Sorentos in the first round as a player/coach. He had no prior basketball experience other than a couple of street ball pick up games.

The Pac-Man started the game and was cheered for every time he touched the ball. He played a total of six minutes and 46 seconds. His stat line included two turnovers, that’s it. Pacquiao would spend the rest of the game coaching on the sidelines. His team would come out on top 80-66.

After the game, Pacquiao said he is putting his basketball career on hold to focus on his upcoming fight where he will defend his Welterweight belt against Chris Algieri. This leads us to the possibility of promoting one of the best boxing/basketball events of all-time. A one-on-one basketball game in a boxing ring between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Let’s make it happen.
