Jarvis Hayes rallies Qatar passed Japan

With the first pick of the 2003 NBA draft, the Cleveland cavaliers select Lebron James.

The 2003 NBA draft will never be forgotten. Future all-stars Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, David West all took to the podium that year as Commissioner David Stern welcomed them to the NBA.

With the 10th pick of the 2003 NBA draft, the Washington Wizards select Jarvis Hayes from the University of Georgia.

Hayes lasted seven seasons in the NBA before taking his talents abroad. He now represents Qatar as a naturalized player at the FIBA Asia championships.

Hayes’ first performance at the tournament did not lead up to his NBA days, however he excelled when called upon late in the game to lead Qatar passed Japan 75-74.

Kosuke Kanamaru of Japan led all scorers with 27 points while Hayes chipped in with 20.
