Daniel Orton lands contract with Shanxi Brave Dragons

Reading Time: 1 minutes

Out goes Byron Mullens, in comes Daniel Orton.

The Shanxi Brave Dragons haven’t even played a single game yet (the season has yet to begin) and they’ve already released Mullens (a key foreign player) to sign Orton. It wasn’t clear as to why Shanxi decided to drop Mullens, but it will go down as the quickest foreign sign and cut in CBA history.

Orton was a part of the Kentucky Wildcats’ 2009-2010 team (one of the best Kentucky teams in school history) that included John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, and Eric Bledsoe. At 24 years of age, Orton enters his first season abroad. He was in and out of the NBA D-League after being drafted 29th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2010 NBA draft.
