Buying tickets and how to get to a Beijing Ducks game

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Basketball fans in Beijing, here are your instructions on how to purchase tickets and directions on getting to a Beijing Ducks game.

Who are the Beijing Ducks?

The Beijing Ducks are a professional basketball team playing in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Under the leadership of former NBA superstar Stephon “Starbury” Marbury, the Ducks won their first CBA championship in 2012.

This season, Marbury is sidelined with a knee injury and has been replaced by NBA talent Damian Wilkins. The roster also includes Randolph Morris, Sun Yue (played for NY Knicks and LA Lakers) and Chinese prodigy Li Gen.

You can find their full 2013 – 2014 schedule here (first team is home).

How do I get Beijing Ducks tickets?

Irenaworld is the main ticket provider for the Beijing Ducks.

You can buy tickets on game day at Shougang Basketball Center. You will need to go to the first floor (under the platform) of the South Gate right near the “吉野家” restaurant. Tickets are available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (the games usually start at 7:30 p.m.).

Ticket Box

The Prices are 80 RMB180 RMB280 RMB380 RMB、480 RMB580 RMB and 1500 RMB.

The 80 RMB to 380 RMB tickets are located in upper sections while the 480 RMB and 580 RMB tickets are in the lower sections.

The 1500 RMB tickets are the courtside seats.

When you arrive at the first floor ticket desk, ask for Vince.  He speaks great English and is very helpful.

Buying tickets online

Tickets can also be found at t3.com. Here is a breakdown of the process.

You will land on a page that looks similar to this one. The shaded prices are SOLD OUT.

The prices vary by seat section.

Seating Sections

There are three main sections surrounding the court with the lower seats being the more expensive choice.

In the top section you will find a crowd who for the most part were given tickets through their company or some sort of connection.

The middle section will most likely be mom and dad. It’s more of a family section.

The lower section holds the die-hard basketball fans. The hecklers are in this section. This section has a lot of energy, it’s more of a younger crowd.

Once you have selected where you want to sit for what game and how many tickets you are buying, you will land on this page. Most of you will be non members so go a head and click the orange rectangle. If you are already a member than you know the drill.

Where do the Beijing Ducks play?

The Ducks play at Shougang Basketball Center on the West side of Beijing.

If you are taking a TAXI, just show the cab driver this address.

首钢篮球中心
首钢体育中心(石景山区杨庄石景山路甲61号)

Please note, if you live on the East side of Beijing the taxi ride will be quite pricey as the arena is so far West it’s almost considered outside of the city

If you are going by SUBWAY, you must take line 1 all the way to PINGGUOYUAN station (the last stop going west on line 1).

2013-12-21_03-52-17

Take the A/D Exit out of the station. Once you are outside, you will need to cross the road using the crosswalk about 50 metres to your left.

Exit AD

Taking a bus from here is nearly impossible and very time consuming (with three transfers it could take you up to 45 minutes to arrive by bus). You are best to take a taxi from the subway station.

The taxi from PINGGUOYUAN station will cost you roughly 20 RMB. Again, show this address to the taxi driver.

Once you arrive to the arena, you will be mauled by some of the most aggressive scalpers in the world. Be prepared. It’s better not to try and deal with them. First they don’t sell tickets at the exact price. Second they might have fake tickets. And third they might not have the seats you want.

Outdoor arena

When/if you have your ticket, walk to the left side of the main platform (facing the arena). There will be a staircase where fans are lining up to enter the arena.

You will have to go through security. They will check your bags and possibly pat you down. This is all “standard protocol”.

You are now inside, show your ticket to a staff member wearing a red vest and they will guide you to your seat.

Enjoy the game!

Editors note; two games will be played at the MasterCard Center this season. The first one will be on Dec. 27th. The second one will be Dec. 29th.

Thank you very much. This is an extremely informative article.

Do you know how ticket purchases for the two games at the MasterCard center will work?

      Hi Aaron,

For games at the MasterCard Center you can purchase online (same time listed above) or you can buy tickets from the box office at the arena (MasterCard Center). Prices don’t change for the bigger venue.

If you are taking a cab to the MasterCard Center the address is No. 69, Fuxing Road, Haidian District, Beijing, P. R. China 100039.

    Hello,

Thanks for the very informative blog entry.

I am having trouble seeing the “print at home” option. All I see is “Express Delivery” or “Pickup”… am I missing something?

      Hi Eric,

Once you choose what ticket you want, continue to the next “confirmation” page. On this page you will see the option for pick/delivery. There will be three options: The first one is “please select” (not really an option), the second one says “Pick up at the venue, the third one says “delivery”. Here is a screen shot of the page. I hope this helps. http://imgur.com/Eufc1GE

    Useful article.
But I don’t agree with that:
“In the top section you will find a crowd who for the most part were given tickets through their company or some sort of connection.
The middle section will most likely be mom and dad. It’s more of a family section.
The lower section holds the die-hard basketball fans. The hecklers are in this section. This section has a lot of energy, it’s more of a younger crowd.

As a local fans of Beijing Ducks,I found that the lower section(480 RMB,580 RMB) not the die-hard fans.Actually most fans of Beijing are young(like student),and we can’t afford 480 RMB for a game.
In the lower section, there are more given tickets….
